SYNOPSIS

There is nothing special about Kak Siti (24) to Irfan (12). He is dumbfounded why his brother, Ardi (26) who is a handsome and stylish pilot chooses Kak Siti as his wife. Kak Siti is not pretty, she has no style and sharp with her words. At home, she mostly dresses in a t-shirt and a tracksuit or in her floral pyjama. Kak Siti differs greatly from his other sisters-in-law who are always looking good even though at home. What puzzles him the most is that Kak Siti who comes from a village does not know how to cook at all. In fact his mother, Puan Faridah (52) has to teach Kak Siti how to slice an onion!

After Ardi marries Kak Siti, she lives with their family. Despite numbers of flaws, Irfan finds that Kak Siti loves to help Puan Faridah. If the other sisters-in-law are not keen in helping, Kak Siti will be the one who will roll up the sleeves to help Puan Faridah prepares the dishes. Even though Puan Faridah does not have any favouritism over any of her daughters-in-law, sometimes she does treat Kak Siti like a maid! Puan Faridah will ask her to do almost everything. At times Kak Siti will request the other in-laws to help in the kitchen, but they prefer to lounge in the living room. They prefer gossiping about the artists and beauty among them compared to having a conversation with Faridah.

Going back to the village is also not their cup of tea. They will give tonnes of excuses. Even visiting Opah’s house is chore for them as they prefer staying at the local hotel. Again, Kak Siti is different. She does not mind sleeping in the living room at all. Kak Siti makes herself comfortable in the village as if it is her own. She rides a motorcycle to the shop, climbs the mango tree and she even treats Opah like her own grandmother. Opah likes Kak Siti very much because she is good atentertaining Opah with her conversation about the chickens, the ducks, the market and so on so forth. While talking to Opah, Kak Siti will be massaging Opah’s feet.

When Opah falls sick and bedridden, Opah is brought to Kuala Lumpur and she stays with Faridah. Even though Faridah is a patient lady, but sometimes she will lose her cool in dealing with Opah’s antiques. Faridah asks the help from her children to manage Opah. Ardi and his siblings decide to hire a nurse who can take care of Opah every day. Opah becomes grumpier and she sends away the nurse as she doesn’t want a stranger touching her. Faridah has no choice but to take care of Opah herself.

Kak Siti feels sorry for the hardship that Puan Faridah goes through, she resigns from her job to help her mother-in-law cares for Opah and even Ardi has no objection. In the beginning, the other sisters-in-law think that Kak Siti is going after Opah nursing allowance but Kak Siti tells them that she is doing it for love. Irfan witnesses how Kak Siti takes a good care of Opah. She bathes Opah, changes Opah’s nappy and powders Opah’s face.

When Opah gets well, Opah gives a piece of land as a present to Kak Siti. The siblings, including the sisters-in-laws are stricken by jealousy and some even object the idea. But Opah decides to give the piece of land to the person who takes care of her.

Irfan’s admiration towards Kak Siti grew more and more. Irfan asks Ardi how did he fell in love with Kak Siti. Ardi first meets Kak Siti when Kak Siti works at Mak Som’s food stall. Ardi has never stopped at the “drive-thru” food stall before until one day on his way to the airport, Kak Siti suddenly stops Ardi’s car because she wants to save a kitten who was crossing the street. Ardi’s car almost hits Kak Siti.

Soon after the incident, Ardi frequently stops at the food stall and buys nasi lemak and other local delicacies. The food sold at the “drive-thru” stall is delicious. Irfan is curious how could that be when Kak Siti doesnot even know how to slice an onion. Ardi tells Irfan that Kak Siti only helps around the stall but she does not cook. Every time Ardi goes there to eat, he sees that Kak Siti loves animals and the old folks. That what makes Ardi fell in love with Kak Siti and keen in knowing her more.

Faridah tells Irfan, one day when he becomes a man, finds a wife like Kak Siti. The face may not be pretty but the heart is beautiful. Irfan immediately runs to Nani’s house who is Irfan next door neighbour. Nani (12) is a shabby looking and tough girl. Irfan gives Nani a bouquet of flowers and asks her to marry him one day. Nani gets annoyed and she chases after Irfan around the village!
